When I decided that it was time to stop colouring my hair I was faced with the question as to the best way to do this. Merely allowing the dark colour to grow out and the white/grey to appear was not an option!
When I spoke to Jo Herve at Vallender’s about my dilemma, she immediately saw the route to follow. She suggested a gradual process which could take 18 months or so which would entail lightening my hair gradually with lighter base colours, along with highlights and lowlights which would look more natural. My hair would become progressively lighter, yet the step changes would be minimal. Jo suggested different cuts and styles too which would emphasise the highlights and new colours.
Each time I went to Vallender’s over those months, I felt excited about the next step and keen to hear Jo’s suggestions. She always had ideas for the colour and style for that appointment and at the same time she was planning ahead towards the day when I would no longer colour my hair. Jo always had more than one idea and we discussed them together.
The whole process did take approximately eighteen months and each time I left Vallender’s my colour was a little different and very often I came away with a new, exciting style too! I liked each subtle change of colour and each new cut/style along the way and I have had lots of compliments about my hair both over that period of change and since.
Unsure of how to best go about this major change to my look, I had been putting it off! However, thanks to Jo’s ability to cut well, to visualise styles which suit my face along and with her expertise with colour, this has a fun and exciting time for me and I am thrilled with the end result.
